The Niger state police command has arrested a 45-year-old dismissed policeman, Usman Yohanna for establishing an unlawful checkpoint and extorting cash from individuals in Gurara native authorities space.
Yohanna was arrested when police detectives led by the DPO of Gawu Babangida Division found an unlawful checkpoint alongside Boyi-Sarkin Daku highway which was alleged to have been arrange by an Inspector of Police.
It was found that everybody who passes the checkpoint both by automobile or motorbike is made to half with some cash to Yohanna and his group of males who’re at the moment at giant.
The suspect when interviewed stated that he was dismissed from police service as a sergeant since February 2019 at Sabon Tasha Division of the Kaduna state Police Command.

He stated that he needed to arrange the unlawful checkpoint and declare to individuals that he’s connected to Federal SARS in Abuja as a result of he wished to earn cash to fend for his household.
Yohanna stated that after dismissal, feeding turned very tough for him and it was tough to get one other job so he and his buddies devised the plan of the checkpoint after they observed that the realm of secluded and it might be tough for them to be found.
The Niger state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Wasiu Abiodun stated that the police recovered an entire set of Police camouflage uniform from him including that the opposite members of the gang are on the run however the police are on their path.
