A chief Justice of the Peace’s court docket in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has remanded a 38-year-old man, Simon Emeka, in a correctional centre after he was charged with raping his seven-month-old daughter.
Police prosecuting officer Sergeant Friday Kanshio informed the court docket on the weekend that one Josephine Habba reported the incident at Police Pressure ‘D’ Division, Makurdi.
Kanshio quoted Habba as saying that on June 1 she went to a hospital along with her daughter the place she heard one Mrs Favour Emeka crying and telling a nurse that her seven-month-old child lady was raped by her husband Simon Emeka.
The suspect’s plea was not taken for need of jurisdiction, although he pleaded not responsible to the cost.
The Justice of the Peace, Mr Isaac Ajim, took Emeka into custody and adjourned the case to August 31.
