A faction of the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP) in Adamawa State has petitioned the Inspector Common of Police, Mohammed Adamu, over alleged harassment of its members.

The faction, generally known as Reformed PDP (R-PDP) and coordinated by a former governorship aspirant of the PDP within the state, Dr Umar Ardo, stated in an open letter to the IGP that the faction has a case towards the Commissioner of Police, Audu Madaki

“On behalf of the factional group of the PDP in Adamawa State, we write to specific our dissatisfaction and lack of confidence in the best way the Adamawa State Police Command below Police Commissioner Audu Madaki has been maltreating our members since we broke ranks with the PDP Chapter of the state final July,” the letter stated.

The letter, signed by Umar Ardo, stated the faction formally filed a written criticism of bodily assault by thugs as members have been holding a gathering in Umar Ardo’s home early in February, on account of which his home and 6 automobiles have been broken and a few members injured, alleging that the police did nothing about it.

The faction said within the open letter :”On duly reporting the assault, police got here and inspected the scene, took photos and interviewed witnesses. We gave the police names, phone numbers and addresses of among the alleged perpetrators of the crime.

“We have been assured of justice, however so far, not a single individual amongst these we named was even invited for questioning by the Adamawa State Police Command.

“Once more, once we didn’t agree on our variations and we wished to inaugurate our personal factional management on the Lelewal Lodge in Yola on 20th February, 2020, the police command went out of its method to seal the venue that we duly paid for to carry a reliable political ceremony.”

Ardo added within the assertion that on Thursday April 9, the state police commissioner dispatched a staff of cell policemen that went to his hometown, Kojoli, and closed the factional workplace of the R-PDP, eliminated the hoisted flags, arrested the factional chairman, Mr. Phillip Buji, and introduced and locked him up in Yola.

He added that on Friday when he despatched a lawyer, Barr Husseini Guyuk, to bail Mr. Buji, the lawyer was himself promptly detained, and that his PA, Abdulsalam Adamu, who took meals to them was as nicely detained by the police.

He stated it was unhappy that arrests of his members have been being carried out now that the whole lot, together with the work of a reconciliation committee arrange by the PDP nationwide management, was on halt due to the continuing lockdown prompted by COVID-19 outbreak, and urged the IGP to deal with the entire matter.
